Mustafa
From refugee to renting his own home
Mustafa rebuilt his life after standing against injustice forced him to flee his country.
Mustafa knew the risks of teaching English to girls under the Taliban rule. When they discovered him, he was arrested and imprisoned. In 2023, with no other choice, he fled and came to the UK as a refugee.
When Mustafa met Just Homes through Crisis charity, he started rebuilding his life. We helped him to find a job as a translator, to retrain as a work coach, and supported him with housing and budgeting. Now Mustafa has enough money saved to rent his own home.
A safe, empowered and independent life is now his again, and he is able to do once more what he loves: living meaningfully and giving to others who have experienced similar struggles.
"Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of injustice, to undo the thongs of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover them, and not to hide yourself from your own kin?" Isaiah 58 6-7
